These different pencils you will use for different parts of the drawing, as you cannot to the details and elements with the same pencil. Also, it is advisable to use mechanical pencils, as they provide a lot more precision than the regular ones and these are often mark with the HB mark.

Master all mark-making techniques

Mark-making are inevitable part of drawing, as you will need to fill in your shapes and drawings. You will need different mark-making techniques in order to achieve the different styles and effects. There are generally six techniques, including: scribbling, small-circles, finger blend, hatching, cross-hatching and stippling. Each type is used for different elements and you simply practice these all the time, so you could predict which one is the best for a specific element and detail.

Lines must not be the same all the time

First of all, have in mind also that you need to adjust the grip of the pencil. If you hold it closer to the end, you have more control and precision while otherwise you do not have precision but you have lighter strokes. Now, when drawing lines, make sure that these are dynamic and different, meaning that a subtle shift in line width will add more creativity and cool look. Just experiment with different pencils at different angles to master the lines.
